The Footlighters are now looking for cast, crew, and pit members for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Audition times are listed below. If you have questions for the director (Nick Badger), you can use the contact form here (make sure you pick "Contact the Director").

Initial Audition

• Paperwork (to be completed at the audition.)
• A prepared musical selection. It is highly recommended that you keep this under a minute. Sweeney material IS allowed but NOT required.
• An OPTIONAL (but highly recommended) prepared monologue.

Choose a Date

• Monday, Sep 1: 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM: Main room
• Tuesday, Sep 2: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM: Main room
• Wednesday, Sep 3: 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM: Chamber room

The rare instance of a musical thriller, Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s chilling, suspenseful, heart-pounding masterpiece of murderous barber-ism and culinary crime tells the infamous tale of the unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London seeking revenge against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. His thirst for blood soon expands to include his unfortunate customers, and the resourceful proprietress of the pie shop downstairs soon has the people of London lining up in droves with her mysterious new meat pie recipe!

Sophisticated, macabre, visceral and uncompromising, “Sweeney Todd” nevertheless has a great sense of fun, mixing intense drama with howlingly funny moments of dark humor: audiences find themselves laughing hysterically one moment and gasping in surprise the next.

At the show’s core is a challenging score of epic proportion with two tasty tour de force roles in Sweeney and his comic female accomplice Mrs. Lovett. Although it has been extremely popular with opera companies and in concert presentation, “Sweeney Todd” is equally effective as an intimate chamber musical.

This fall, the Footlighter's own Nick Badger will be directing the performance in Case Western Reserve University's own Carlton Commons located at 11892 Carlton Road, Cleveland, OH 44106.

There will be four performances:
- Thursday October 30th at 8:00pm
- Friday October 31st at 8:00pm
- Saturday November 1st at 8:00pm
- Saturday November 1st at 11:59pm

Footlighters is a completely student run group devoted to promoting musical theater at Case Western Reserve University, The Cleveland Institute of Art, and The Cleveland Institute of Music. Since 1998, the Footlighters have produced one show each semester in order to best serve the community. In the past, the Footlighters have performed Little Shop of Horrors, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cabaret, and the Northern Ohio Premiere of The Wild Party.
